The Darren Loh Cup VI

21 July 2018

On 21 July, 32 teams across three categories competed in this year’s DLC VI. Teams comprised current and past ACS students and their friends. Many of the ACS boys who played came from our sister schools, making this tournament more of an ACS family one.

CKS teachers and students worked tirelessly to ensure the day went without any hitches. For many, this was their first experience of such a big event, with almost 500 people coming by to play, watch or help.

It was good to see so many of our ACS (International) alumni at the event. Many took the day as an opportunity to catch up with their old classmates and former teachers, plus to walk around school to take in the many changes that have occurred since their time with us.

DLC has always been about remembering Darren Loh, his love for football and his charitable nature. All three objectives were met and through everyone’s efforts, $7,200 was raised for The Rainbow Centre.

As ever, the event would not have been a success without the continued support of Mrs Angela Loh and Mr David Loh. This year’s event was jointly sponsored by Samsui Supplies & Services, Founder Bak Kut Teh, Hot Pot Pin, JP Pepperdine, Mr Brian Kwan, Mr Willie Ng and our ever-supportive PSP.

Thanks also to all CKS teachers and students who were in school from 7:30am until 6:30pm on that Saturday, helping to manage the event and doing whatever that had to be done to make the day a successful one. Final thanks to Anahita Bhesania, Sana Bhadelia and Muzainy Shahiefisally, all from 5CKS, who planned, executed and managed the event. Without their amazing leadership, the day would not have run as smoothly as it did.

Thanks again to all participants and volunteers. See you all next year for DLC VII!
